The Inaugural UNC Kenan-Flagler
Private Equity Conference, re-branded as the Alternative Investments Conference
for 2009, offered attendees a wide variety of current and expected trends
within the alternative investment space and was a tremendous success. The sold-out
event was held at The Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill, NC on
February 1, 2008.Representatives from
private equity, hedge fund, investment management and other alternative
investment firms spoke extensively on issues surrounding the recent convergence
of private equity and hedge fund strategies, lending practices in a difficult
market, emergence of firms going public, and various other current industry
topics.
The 2008 Conference theme was
“Hedge Funds: Convergence or Conquest?” and featured impressive keynote
speeches from Dwight Anderson of Ospraie
Management and Glenn Hutchins of
Silver Lake.Over 150 professionals
along with select faculty and students attended the event and responded with
overwhelmingly positive feedback.
We would like to express our
gratitude to UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA Class of 2008 graduates Joe DeSapri, Sean
Miller and Chad Plotke for spearheading the inaugural conference and building
the foundation for future success.
